Louise Brealey Instagram – I remember it. I don’t remember much, but I remember I was sitting on the right-hand side of the carriage, going north, facing north to Scotland, when suddenly the field slipped and all the window was sea. The Northumberland coast, though I couldn’t check it on my phone twenty years ago when I was going to the Edinburgh film festival as a newly fledged film journalist. The closeness of the quink ink navy blue beautiful sea made me gasp.

Gilbert and me drove the smallest roads along that coast last November on our big trip and ran in circles in the sand. Well, he ran. I laughed, mainly.

Every August after that I sat on the right side on the way up and the left side on the way down.

This Edinburgh, two of my darling old pals and a few of my brilliant new ones came to hold me tight and lift me up as Chuck Chuck Baby got its world premiere. I cried in the foyer of the hotel (all just a bit much) and ruined my makeup for the red carpet shots. But LUCKILY I was wearing a dress that I am pretty sure was spun from actual gold (lent by the amazing @thefoldlondon at the very very last minute (thank you @mary_fellowes 💕) after I’d bought approximately 46 shit vintage ones on eBay).

Some of the brilliant actual chicken factory women were in the audience.

It made me so happy to see their faces when they saw themselves up there on the big screen. Magic. Magic.
