I’m most fond of this one
dense afro filled the frame, it held the light in

Nearly half is now shed
Alas, God saw me fit to gift my head
lavishly
had enough hair to spare to aging,
to medicines, to time.
Now I am liscenced to drive in
South Carolina, land of my ancestors
Land of most Black folks in this lands’ ancestors
where they passed through.
I will drive here.
