Alchemy. With every encounter, we are transformed. Most of our alchemy happens outside of the view of the lens. And when it does reach a lens, it’s a reunion of many lifetimes — your own, others… My heart is often bursting at the seams, and in that, even more chamber-space is forged for my tribe to settle into it. Thank you, Kasi Lemmons, for being a wizard of light — in your life and your art — even for those who have yet to meet you in the flesh. Thank you, Jeff Byrd, for illuminating the way for so many. I am grateful. Thank you, to every soul in these photos, including my own soul, for answering the calls of your spirit — we are all better for it. Shoulders, upon shoulders, upon shoulders, we stand.
