Taksh’s Birth Story- 3/3 🧿 Takshvardhan Singh Chauhan💙- 17th Nov 2021 *This photograph is Taksh’s first photo and he was given to me only for a few seconds and my husband managed to capture this. It’s still unbelievable to me that when I said “Hi” to him, he literally looked at me and smiled. I will never forget this feeling.❤️ Part 3 All I heard was NICU and oxygen, and I was inconsolable. I couldn’t come to terms with it. I just wanted to hold my baby. So before they transferred him to the NICU, they gave Taksh to me for a couple of seconds and that’s when the above photograph was taken. Doctors told me that he will be fine, but at that point of time you tend not to believe anybody. All I could think about was that I had to spend my babies first night away from him and I just wanted him to be fine and to be next to me. The night was long and seemed to never end, I kept pestering my husband to go see him in the NICU, but after a couple of times, he wasn’t allowed since NICU needs to be sterile and patients constantly visiting could compromise that. I don’t think we slept even for a second that night. I had just been through labour, exhausted like I’d never been before but there was no way I could get myself to sleep. I just wanted to reassure myself that he was okay but now we couldn’t even see him. (Don’t worry the gloominess of this post ends here. Only while writing this part I realised that I don’t like even thinking about this experience , hence I’m hurrying up this part. I initially thought that I’d make a YouTube video on Taksh’s birthing story but now I’m not too sure ) The next morning, the Paediatrician told us that he was absolutely fine and ready to be discharged, and they didn’t have to wait for 24 hours. He was finally in my arms. Taksh gave us quite the scare but in the end he was alright and that’s all that mattered.😊 Also, before I forget you get stitches even if you do a vaginal delivery but just not on your stomach. It’s called an episiotomy. I had no idea but couldn’t care less given the situation. …Continued in the comment section

Taksh’s Birth Story- 1/3 *I’ve haven’t been blessed with the art of beautifully articulating a story with words like poetry, so that is not something you should expect, But what I can give you is an unapologetically real story. So here it goes. Part 1 Throughout my pregnancy I’ve never given much thought to labour or the actual process of giving birth (except as a concept for my reels), I’ve always just blindly jumped into a difficult situation with the belief that in the end it’ll all work out. So when my doctor did an internal exam(which is so painful btw) and informed me that I was around 2 cms dilated and everything looked good, which meant that a vaginal delivery was possible, I was honestly relieved( since you hear stories all the time about private hospitals pushing you towards a C section) and then decided not to talk to anybody about the labour or the pain since I did not want to back out. Knowing my pain tolerance and the amount of tears I’ve shed during my period cramps, when the Doctor asked me about my birthing plan and if I wanted to opt for an epidural (it’s an injection which REDUCES the labour pain significantly), I said absolutely, a 100% yes! My doctor told me that I was due any day now and should expect either labour pains or a water break, but I didn’t experience either. On my next visit, she told me that my amniotic fluid was low and I was to be induced on the very next day (17th Nov). On 17th we reached the hospital at 6 am and I was given a pill to induce labour, in the mean time I was asked to exercise -squats, bouncing on a soft ball etc. I did all of these diligently. But the pains did not start nor did my water break. The doctor then had to break my water and with that I started to feel the first contractions, which only increased and intensified with time. How do contractions feel? Similar to period cramps but much more intense. In the beginning the intervals between 2 contractions are long but then the intervals slowly starts to reduce and the pain increases. ….Continued in the next post #birthstory
Taksh’s Birth Story- 2/3 Part 2 By the time I reached 4 cms dilation, I begged for an epidural and thankfully the doctor administered it and in half an hour I was smiling again, (which would have been unbelievable if you were present in the room and saw me weeping) I could still feel the contractions but the pain was reduced and infact felt painless. I quickly progressed to 10 cms dilation and my labour lasted only 4-5 hours. My doctor and I were both happy that my exercise routine throughout my pregnancy worked well and I was ready to push. Well the easy part ends here, what happened next was something that none of us anticipated! I reached 10 cms dilation and the Doctor put me off epidural, since you need to be able to feel the push. A little tip here to all pregnant women, please learn everything there is to know about pushing a baby out, the breathing technique, the position etc. I jumped into it blindly and things didn’t go as planned. I started to push with every contraction, but somehow I wasn’t able to push hard enough I guess and I just couldn’t get my baby out. My husband who was in the room, kept motivating me to push and I tried my best but it just wasn’t working. With all that was happening, my babies heart rate started to fall and he was under distress. I knew I had to give it my all and push no matter what, after what seemed like an eternity Taksh was born, but I didn’t hear him cry and my heart sank. In my entire life I’ve never felt what I felt at that moment, I was so so scared. I can’t even begin to describe it. The Paediatrician checked him and told us that everything looks fine but his breathing is too fast since he was under distress and he needs to be taken to the NICU. He will be given oxygen to correct his breathing and kept under observation for 24 hours. ….. Continued in the next post
