She conducted workshops for a project that I am currently shooting for. . Neha trained with professional intimacy directors and coordinators (IDC) in New York and has been an intimacy coach on projects like @shakunbatra ‘s Gehraaiyaan (which was the first project to have intimacy workshops with actors), Sanaa, @hansalmehta ‘s Scoop, Satya Prem Ki Katha and Kohrra, to name a few. . Intimacy scenes can involve anything between kissing, changing clothes, shower scenes to filming intercourse. . Neha works just like choreographers work on song sequences or action directors design fight sequences. It’s designed with the directors, cinematographers and with CONSENT and respecting the BOUNDARIES of actors. Both female and male. Intimate scenes/sequences are extremely technical and requires planning, just like any other scene. . Often as an actor we meet our costars during script reading sessions and sometimes directly on set and shoot emotionally intense scenes. Of course as an actor, one can be ready and willing to shoot whenever and whatever required in a script. Making co actors approachable for each other is necessary and that’s why intimacy workshops are important. . Neha would make sure limited crew is present on set when we would be shooting intimate scenes. Actors’ comfort and consent, availability of costume assistant with necessary garments, and most importantly sensitising the entire team towards such intimate scenes. . Intimacy workshops is a new concept in Indian films and I recommend directors, actors, producers and platforms to encourage this.
