Tonya Lewis Lee Instagram – It was an absolute honor and privilege to attend and speak at the 40th-anniversary of the Black Women’s Health Imperative @blkwomenshealth. This remarkable organization stands as the first nonprofit committed to achieving health equity for Black women in the US. Founded by the visionary Byllye Avery in 1983, it has evolved into a nationally recognized powerhouse in health policy, education, research, knowledge dissemination, and leadership development. On 9/22, the BWHI hosted a Symposium on The State of Black Women at @spelman_college, where their journey began four decades ago. The panel discussions were both enlightening and invigorating. I had the privilege of sharing the stage with esteemed individuals, including Dr. Helene Gayle, President of Spelman College, and @alexismcgilljohnson, President & CEO of @PlannedParenthood. Our panel also featured the brilliant @linda_villarosa and the insightful Andrea King Collier. A special shout-out to @cjones_flowerboxes a true hero in her own right. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to all the Black women warriors and everyone else who graced the event with their presence. The audience was nothing short of a powerhouse!
