Yael Stone Instagram – Shout out to this publication for committing themselves to celebrating my body! Thank you for paying for creepy long lens images of me over the years in my swimmers and underwear. And such editorial insight to know that I was ‘showing off’ my body! I was certainly not simply at work or privately enjoying the company of my friends, I was definitely showing off.
In all seriousness, I have felt so much shame and self hatred over the years about my body. When I saw the most recent images of my body, a body that 3 months prior birthed our 2nd baby I had a momentary desire to punish myself. But then I thought ‘That’s what this game is designed to make us all feel; shame.’ So no, I will not hate my body. I will not be ashamed of this body that does amazing things for me everyday. A body that gave us our daughters and performs all manner of biological miracles. And a body that is aging and changing and with one day will stop. Till that day I say thank you body for working so hard to carry me around! You are a lovely vehicle for my mind and spirit, those things that truly matter.
