This video sums up our relationship. We met while I was filming one of the last episodes of Austin and Ally. I was about to film a scene and I was wearing booty shorts and had spiked hair, while @thecelestadeastis was looking beautiful and perfect (like always). I tried to play it cool but I literally tripped and fell when I first saw her. I have never been more nervous than when I walked over to say “Hi”. I knew it was a moment that would change my life – and it did! I still can’t believe she said yes to going on a date. I’m smiling just thinking about it. She made me understand love songs. I feel like the kid in Love Actually. We’re like Rose and Jack from Titanic – if Jack was a dorky pale ginger and they had decided to not go on that cruise ship. We’re a thousand miles away right now but just know there is an awkward Canadian in the shade trying avoid a sunburn who is crazy about you. Happy Anniversary @thecelestadeastis. I love you ❤️

We need an open system where we can hold the government accountable for using the money that’s being donated to #COVID19 relief appropriately. For instance, we need to be able to say, “Yeah, we know that you received $24M from the W.H.O., so how have you spent this money?” This is a powerful way people can get involved in this fight and ensure governments provide necessary services to their people. I see first hand how it’s hard for many communities in Nigeria and other parts of Africa to have physical distance, and you can’t really talk about what hygiene and sanitation look like when some of us don’t even have water.

I just finished reading @jamie_s_margolin’s new book YOUTH TO POWER. It was my favorite book I have read this year. This book will help you become a real activist and will give you a guide to building your own movement. I will be a more effective activist because of this book and so will you.
Young people are on the front lines of racial injustice, climate change, gender inequality and every other global threat. They are informed, they understand what’s at stake, and they have the courage to speak truth to power. In 2020, it’s hard to be optimistic but when I see how effective the next generation is at making real change – I am convinced we will solve these issues. Thank you for writing this book Jamie. We need governments to provide healthcare services for the physicians on the front lines, because without personal protective equipment (PPEs), the hospitals will become infected and become transmitters of the disease. The biggest hospital in Nigeria is in my state, and 60% of cases in my state right now have been traced to that hospital.
#COVID19 has also disrupted the entire chain of health care services. We don’t have HIV services running during the lockdown period. Reproductive health, routine child vaccination, healthcare services for women are all things I worry about. Imagine a situation where a woman doesn’t have access to neonatal care services. We really need to ensure that these services are up and running during this period because we could lose more people from neglecting these services than from the coronavirus. – @drisaacking
