I got destroyed on multiple golf courses, went digging for vintage on Kensington Street, hit A&W for that fresh out the tap Root Beer in a frosty Canadian mug, got beautifully lost on a solo hike and of course got to perform. After a couple days off and some time to reflect I felt a new energy on stage last night. My goal in performing isn’t to be perfect, but human. To get out of my own way, unattached to the grid that a live set can turn into. I want to try new songs, make mistakes, call audibles, show up maskless and allow the moment to unfold how it’s suppose to. I want to revel in the idea that I get to play music, a living breathing entity that has its own life in whatever moment it exists in. Last night I felt that. Macklemore Instagram – I spent the day in Detroit recuperating after very little sleep and border crossing out of Canada. Usually I get out and explore a city I’ve grown to really love. I love the music that has come out of the D. From Slum Village, Royce to Em and Motown. I love the wide leg old school pinstripe suits, Stacey Adam’s and a crisp brim. I love the Vernors ginger ale that is a staple from the great state of Michigan. I love the Cadillac’s that were built in the motor city. I love the zoom recovery meetings I found out of Michigan during the pandemic (KCB)…. And I love the people. Always a special night at the historic Fillmore. The golden walls hold magic.
