Christi Paul Instagram – I was at HLN for just a few months when I got to interview @camanpour for the first time & because of a rare visit to Atlanta from whatever war-ravished country she had flown in from that day, she was on set with me.
I was nervous because she is the ultimate bad-ass – ridiculously intelligent, capable, knowledgeable, seemingly fearless truth-telling journalist.
And I was told if she didn’t like your question, you’d know it.
I prepped diligently & shook a bit in my boots since I was so new.
The moment she sat down, I was entranced by her story-telling, her passion for what she does & honestly, her eyes.
There’s a beauty, strength & compassion in her deep brown eyes that I’ve never seen in anyone else.
Truly.
And she couldn’t have been kinder to me.
When the interview was done & she left, my dear colleague & friend, Chuck Roberts, leaned over to me & said “Wow! Very well done Christi. Great interview”. But I can take no credit.
Christiane is powerful, graceful & purposeful in all she’s does. She’s mesmerizing.
If you want to be a good journalist, watch her. Read about her. Learn from her. But be yourself & you’ll find your way.
Thank you Christiane for showing us the world in all its torment & victories. We’re all more knowledgeable and moved to tears at times because of you.
