Big mood shift lately 🖤 Here is my new look! I do feel blonde suits me better but lately in all my dreams I was consistently sporting these glamorous shiny raven locks for some reason. I felt I was being stalked by my dark and shadowy twin so I had to become her! 🤷🏻♀️ I so want to cut it to a bob again but will wait for further dream guidance… Colour by my talented friend @hairbyrbyrne using @natulique_uk Ps. Sorry for not posting much lately, been working away in private on some projects. Podcast coming next week though… 😮
What’s up Instagram, hello! Just hopping online to tell you that my book is now published in PORTUGUESE by the incredible @leya_portugal team 🦋 📚 Thank you so much to everyone who came to meet me at the Lisbon Book Fair last week, I was so touched by the depth and sensitivity of the Portuguese readers ♥️ I have to admit it was an exercise in surrender to even allow the text to be translated in a language I don’t know. I was extremely controlling about the English text as I am very calculating when it comes to putting words together. It’s scary not knowing if the exact tone and nuance of a moment was understood and translated. But having met the funny, thoughtful and sensitive people at LeYa I feel confident in surrendering this text to words beyond my comprehension, and am honoured they published it!l 🙏🏻 As for my book, people I meet lately who didn’t know me when I was writing often ask did I write it myself. The absolute cheek!! I hope people know that this book came from the very bottom of my heart and guts!! It was a nasty healing process. It was a prolonged furious howl from my wounded inner child! I don’t talk about it much anymore only because I feel very very moved on from the events of the book. One of its gifts. I am focused now on writing my next book, fiction, thank fuck. Don’t hold your breath for that one but yes, that’s where my mind is now. But Opposite of Butterfly Hunting remains one of those creations that, unusually, I’m still proud of 💙 Anyway, it’s out in Portuguese now! Read away! 📚 #TheOppositeofButterflyHunting #OOpostodacacaasBorboletas
So sad to hear this news 💔 and I wanted to add my voice to the chorus of admiration for her and extend love to her family and friends so they know how much her spirit inspired generations of people over the decades. I only felt drawn to her work in recent years and became a fan. I didn’t get her at all when I was younger, she was more a figure of vague curiosity. As a teen I couldn’t understand a woman who would willingly shear herself of her greatest and most powerful tool for expression of beauty – hair!!! Until I grew older and understood that she was accentuating a more deep and truthful beauty, cutting away the frippery that distracts from her most beguiling and beautiful feature – her fierce heart! ❤️🔥I was drawn to stories of her in the media, speaking her mind, offending people left and right, being too bare in her expressions, but always demonstrating such compassion for humanity. For however much she didn’t seem to care about pissing people off, she cared so much about people. An exhausting way to exist in the world, no doubt. And then I read her book last year and was amazed by how lucid and brilliant her mind was. Be aware of the mainstream media depicting women who feel too much and are too much as hysterical lunatics who’ve lost their way – in my experience they’re often the ones who see and reflect society back with the clearest eyes. I loved her reflection on the aftermath of ripping up the picture of the pope, of how the narrative was that she’d destroyed her career but actually in doing something that radically truthful to her, she set herself back on a path of artistic integrity and personal authenticity. I listened to her music everyday in March when doing my recent play to connect with the proud Irish warrior archetype that she embodied so boldly. I hope you all read her book ‘Rememberings’ and listen to her records and let her cries stir that fire up in your soul 🔥 I will imagine her soul reunited with her son and pray for her family. Rest in peace, Sinéad O’Connor / Shuhada Sadaqat ♥️🙏🏻
