In short, it takes Latinas almost an entire extra year of work in order to be paid what the average white, non-Hispanic man took home last year 🤯 Why? Well for starters, all working Latinas, including full-time and part-time workers, only receive 52 cents to every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men… On average, Latinas in the U.S. are paid 46% less than white men and 26% less than white women (Source: @leaninorg). ‘Latinas face a double-edged sword of sexism and racism in the workplace: As women, Latinas are stereotyped as less competent than men, and as Latinx Americans, Latinas are stereotyped as less intelligent than white people. Researchers believe that bias is to blame for over half of the pay gap for Latinas’ (source: @leaninorg). The wage gap that Latinas face needs to be a thing of the past.
