Me in my first (I’m writing first cause I want there to be more) dressing room at Steppenwolf last summer. This was closing day. All my stuff off the mirrors. Flowers taken home. Everything packed up. Smiling but I really wanted to cry because it was over.
I thrifted the blazer I’m wearing in the background and in the pocket was this karaoke song list. I hope the blazer owner had a magical night. I hope she sang her heart out and had so much fun she left this blazer at the bar and never went back for it. I also wonder if she actually got to sing all these songs. The list is so long. Was it a quiet night at the bar? Or did she have one of those private rooms where you can sing all night long. She was so prepared!
