I’m making you proud…😇🙏🏼 I did something scary and gave a talk about “The Brilliance of Resilience” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness 💗 Month for 100+ of my Hearst colleagues—REALLY smart magazine editors + executives who I admire. I talked about you and about mom (shh…there’s a no-makeup hospital pic of her in my slide presentation) and then I talked about how 5 key 🔑 strategies help me get through hard things more easily. I outlined coping tricks like finding a resilient role model; learning to attach positive value to a tough situation; leaning into laughter—we don’t lose our funny bone when times are tough; sharing our stories (even if that means TMI to a Target cashier!!!) and more. I got laughs and lots of head nods…and not just because I loaded them up with swag—BCRF belt bags from @lillypulitzer —and filled their bellies with (-)(-) macarons from @danasbakery Turns out the pre-talk butterflies 🦋 were just a reminder of how much I care. I vowed to honor your legacy by always making my mess my message in the hopes of connecting with and helping others. That’s what I’m doing, Pop.
