Nathalie Kelley Instagram – As I prepare to celebrate my 39th year on this planet (in October… excuse the big buildup) I have to give gratitude for the opportunity to be living my dream of living in the Amazon, meeting and working with the leaders I most admire : @alessandra_korap, Chief Raoni @institutoraoni), @watatakalu and @leilasalazar2012 and her incredible team at @amazonwatch plus collaborating with @aliceaedy and @joixlee of @earthrise.studio and @midiaindigenaoficial founder @priscilatapajowara – my heart is so full of joy knowing that I to get to do this work with THESE humans – who bring me constant hope, joy and inspiration even in these difficult times. I write about a lot of depressing things on here, and it’s true, these times are urgent and the threats very real. But I feel it is important to share the joy and beauty with you all also… thank you @maira.irigaray for the beautiful Tapajos immersion experience. There is so much work to be done here but it’s so important to always remember WHY we do what we do.
Nathalie Kelley Instagram – I don’t know who needs to hear this but… wait I do know! @rishisunakmp just announced his plan to drop key net-zero policies at a time when human caused climate change- fueled mostly by the Global North – is wreaking havoc across our planet. To politicians like @rishisunakmp these policies are like chess pieces he can casually move on and off the board to stay in power but to those in the Global South like @ayisha_sid’s home country of Pakistan and my country of Peru – this is LIFE AND DEATH!! Our glaciers are melting, whole villages are being lost to floods and landslides, in Peru we are set to run out of water in 80 years because politicians in the Global North like @rishisunakmp care more about winning elections and keeping big oil and gas happy than the lives of billions of people. Thank you @ayisha_sid for being so brave and articulate at a time when our so called “leaders” are so completely inept and ecologically illiterate not to mention lacking any moral compass or courage.
