Rachel Corbett Instagram – I know this word won’t fix everything but it’s a step in the right direction and I’d rather move forward than stay where we are.
Indigenous Australians deserve to offer their advice on policies that affect them. They deserve to be heard.
If The Voice doesn’t go far enough I’d rather vote yes and look for ways we can do even more than vote no in the hopes something better comes along (when this is the first idea like this I’ve seen in my lifetime).
I want this body enshrined in the Constitution because I want it to be a part of the fabric of our country…for good.
I don’t want future political parties kicking it around at election time like a political football, debating whether the opinions of Indigenous Australians are important. Because they’ve felt for so long that they aren’t and they are.
When the votes are counted I want them to feel like the majority of the country is behind them.
I don’t want to go back to the drawing board and I don’t want to have to wait for another solution that leaves the country incapable of coming to an agreement AGAIN.
I want SOMETHING to be done and I want to be a part of that change.
Your vote is your vote but mine was never going to be anything other than a confident, enthusiastic, resounding, “let’s f*cking do this” YES.
