Sarah Lewis Instagram – When Frederick Douglass spoke about the power of images and vision for justice, he was launching a movement. At the end of his speech, he said that it might that over 150 years for what he tried to articulate to be understood. We are beginning to grasp the gravitas of the idea now.
Today is the last day of the show about Douglass at the Wadsworth in CT.
Thank you to Sir Isaac Julien whose masterwork, Lessons of the Hour will last through the ages. Such gratitude to my co-curator, friend, and colleague Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Such deep appreciation for all those at the museum who made this experience so rewarding.
