We wrote this song back in August, 2022 when we first started working on Nami’s theme. The song was born on the spot right after we finished watching the rough cut for Episode 7. We sent a simple voice and piano sketch to Matt & Steve just to float the idea around. They loved the song, and we immediately started brainstorming on ways to incorporate it into the show. As soon as we met AURORA, we knew from the start she was the one artist who could navigate through the complexities of Nami’s character and deliver a stunning performance. AURORA had a quick window in her packed touring schedule, and we were lucky to catch her in Norway. It was a fantastic session! Over the span of two days (or more like two nights since we were tracking from our studio in LA), we were able to dive into the most exciting creative adventure together, and that’s when the magic truly happened and “My Sails Are Set” came to life.
