Awat Ratanapintha Instagram – Journey of becoming ‘Sorn’ (2) Another challenge in becoming ‘Sorn’ was understanding the nature of the job as a sex worker, including performing stripper dances. I would say I was very worried because, before starting workshops, my dancing skill was horrible. My body felt like a rigid stone. The dance required a sensual, smooth, and sexy feeling which was a tough task. However, I had to make it work. Even though the some parts of dance scenes were eventually edited out of the film, it was still a challenging and enjoyable experience from which I learned a lot. A big thanks to P’Kage, or ‘Madam M,’ who was my acting coach. He guided me and helped transform me into ‘Sorn’ in every aspect. He gradually simplified my inner self, embraced the essence of ‘Sorn,’ and helped me move away from unnecessary complexities. Additionally, P’Kage was the one who taught me to dance from day one, enabling me to evolve from a rigid state to becoming more fluid and expressive. Also thanks to P’Chanan, who designed the choreography for Sorn’s show. We rehearsed, and he gave me guidance before the actual shoot. Another group deserving appreciation is the costume designer team P’Atta, P’Beau, and P’Eye, who consistently created outfits that enhanced my connection with ‘Sorn,’ especially during dance rehearsals. They were a supportive team as always. 🫶🏽 Lastly, a special thanks to P’Tata for taking me on a real-life research journey, allowing me to explore and experience the atmosphere and speak with those in the profession. It helped me a lot to understand their perspectives and hearts as someone in this job and as a fellow human being. From the first day as a ‘stone’ to the actual stage rehearsals and filming days, there were so many changes.
