Cooper Andrews Instagram – The past month, especially the last ten days, has been overwhelming. The first few photos are from Abin’s movie premiere #smokingtigers in @tribeca !!! Guys, Abin kills it! The word “Prank” isn’t exactly what I’m looking for, BUT I submitted her (thanks @cape for posting!) for this film without her knowing until she got the audition. Her FIRST audition. THEN I was out of town so I couldn’t help her at all with the tape OR the two call backs! Whoops! “Smoking Tigers” is a coming of age story that sheds a light on many aspects of the Korean American experience. It’s shown through the eyes of a teenage girl @jiyoung_ie adjusting to her parent’s separation. The performances are charming and engaging, the shots are beautifully crafted, and you may even shed a tear or two, or if you’re as tough as me, seven. @cassadymcclincy @okea.emeakwari @sampuefua @jypsy_czech @hellojuju01 Travelled up to watch and it made the experience that much more special! Now, the second part of the photos. This is my dad, Peato Falanai and my step mother Rose Seuga Falanai. The two of them passed away a few weeks ago, and this past Thursday we were able to lay them to rest near our brother Lalo. It was me and Mom growing up. Though I had only physically known Peato for a few years, he was the motivational force that always made me feel like I had to prove something to myself my entire life. Rose and I would have video chats with Peato popping in and out in the background hahaha. Peato and Rose wanted me to always know I have family in all of them. I knew it then and I know it now. I am thankful for my siblings. We are so much alike and SO very different and I love and am proud of each of them. For nearly a year I’ve been working on an animated show for @disneychannel @disneyplus called “Hailey’s On It”. I play the dad, Kai. It’s a ton of fun and I got to sing A LOT. The thing is, Kai’s voice was HEAVILY inspired by Pops. I wanted to surprise them, but we buried them together the day it aired. Though there were a few things I didn’t get to say to them, I know where we stood. We loved each other and we knew it. When we leave, that’s the most important thing to know.
