I remember touring with @passengermusic in 2011 and having him play me Let Her Go outside the backstage area at Concorde 2 acoustically before we went on stage. I knew then how special it was, but couldn’t have guessed how insanely massive it would be. My favourite memory of the song is it hitting number one in the Netherlands on a day I was headlining a show that Mike was opening for me at. I hadn’t even had a top 10 in Holland at that point and his song was sitting at number one, it was such a special night, and tour to follow. It’s an honour to sing the re-recorded version of the song with Mike 10 years on, such a long lasting friendship that’s gone from empty pubs for both of us together to where we are now. All the little lights anniversary edition out now x

After I posted about Let Her Go anniversary today @murraycummings sent me the actual footage of Mike playing it to me in May 2011 on my very first tour before it was even recorded. Mike was opening up for me in Brighton and I was about to go over to Australia to open up for him. What a time. Thanks Muz for unearthing it. This is gonna be my final thing I release for a while, certainly my final collab for a very long time it’s time to knuckle down into the next big album mode. But what a fitting way, by stopping with one of my favourite artists of all time. I’ve been a fan of @foyvance since my early teens, I used to go watch him with my dad and wait til after to talk to him. He used to end his shows back then with this song Guiding light, but he never released it. When I got successful I met him as an equal and we jammed in Dublin after a show, I asked him to come on tour with me, and he did for a few years. We ended up writing together on Multiply with songs like Tenerife Sea and Afire Love. It was kinda a dream come true to be working with an artist I adored so much. I always asked him why he had never released Guiding Light, as it was my favourite song of his, and one day we sung it together at the Ryman in Nashville in 2013, this is a video from the day we sung it together for the first time then, that I found this morning. Afterwards he said he’d record it, but could I sing it with him. So we recorded it and released it, and later I got to sign him to Gingerbread Man and make these wonderful albums with him. So 10 years on he’s done a new version, this time with @eltonjohn, @keithurban and myself. It’s beautiful, the amazing Johnny McDaid produced it, and I hope you love it. Out now on all platforms, look out for the music video! See you sometime next year when we press Play again on pop, and have a good holiday season x
Final song I wrote for Autumn Variations, and my favourite from the record. Head > Heels is a song about the first stages of a relationship, the honeymoon period, where everything seems so fragile but so exciting, and every layer that’s peeled back just drags you deeper and deeper into it. Here’s me singing it live outside in Vancouver x
