one thing i’ve been blessed to learn about while working with some incredible directors is the time spent on a previs during preproduction. every director i’ve ever worked with who utilized a previs during their process had a 100%success rate of achieving their overall goal. if the final project has a lot of moving elements it’s very often that i end up editing the entire or partial elements of a previs for production and client. recently i’ve realized that while dancers usually pick up on nuances that might be assumed, having an in depth pre-vis approach while setting a piece remotely may really have a positive effect on anyone trying to piece together your ideas without you physically standing there to clarify or unify the general idea.
