Jencarlos Canela Instagram - I grew up watching this film! For better or for worse it showcases the social reality of what the scene was like for the generation of my parents and grandparents when they came to the states. The truth is always worth telling bc we can always learn from it. Those who ignore and don’t own up to the mistakes of their past are destined to repeat it. I wouldn’t have come on board if it was a remake. You don’t remake a classic like Scarface but the idea of telling this story from the perspective of the sons and daughters of those characters that became so iconic is brilliant to me. It gives us the opportunity to dive into some generational trauma issues and see which patterns Tony Montana Jr can break from the past he comes from and which ones will continue to carry on. Jencarlos Canela Instagram - A L O H A I was here in Maui on vacation for the first time a day before the fire happened. I wasn’t going to post anything about my trip here out of respect to the families affected by this tragedy and the lives lost when a local from Lahaina gave me an interesting perspective that changed my mind and a few more locals throughout our trip concurred. Tourism is an important source of revenue for the island. They need us to find a balance between showing support and empathy for the families of Lahaina and at the same time as tourists like myself show how beautiful this island is and the amazing experiences Maui has to offer. If you have a trip planned or are thinking about visiting, don’t think twice! Just please be mindful of the situation and respectful. This trip has been one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. That’s why I’m sharing my experience with all of you and at the same time when the fire happened i went with my @globalempowermentmission family to Lahaina. We took basic needs to shelters and also have activated a credit card and housing program for the families that lost their homes.
