Today I visited Bacton Gas Terminal, which provides up to a third of the UK’s gas supply.
Even when we’ve reached net zero in 2050, the UK will continue to rely on oil and gas to meet its energy needs.
Boosting the domestic production of oil & gas, as well as renewables and nuclear – is the energy mix we need to transition to net zero in a realistic and pragmatic way.
On the way, I also spent some time with @royalbritishlegion volunteers and veterans at Norwich station. They do amazing work raising money for the #PoppyAppeal. I’d encourage everyone to buy a poppy and support this great cause.
This weekend, we will come together across the UK to remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The late Sir Stephen Hawking once said that “AI is likely to be the best or worst thing to happen to humanity.”
Today @bletchleyparkuk, I joined senior leaders, business and industry experts at the first ever global summit on AI Safety.
We discussed what the next five years look like for AI, and the action we’re taking to ensure it’s developed safely – both in the short and long term.
If we can sustain the collaboration that we have fostered over these last two days – I profoundly believe it can be a technology for good.

Ahead of Remembrance weekend, I joined my wife @akshatamurty_official for a special Lessons at 10 hosted by the Royal British Legion.
After, we went to Westminster Abbey where we paid our respects to those who sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms.

The young people I met in Boston today are in no doubt about the dangers of smoking.
We have a chance to cut cancer deaths by a quarter and ease huge pressures on the NHS.
By creating a smokefree generation we’ll give our children a brighter future. Boston, Lincolnshire
