When we we’re trying to figure out how to make Sanji’s first fight feel special and quintessentially his… We struggled to find the right thing for ages, till one day I said as a joke: “Why don’t I just hold a plate of food while I do the fight? And have the other hand in my pocket…?” And then I’d seen this cart-wheel variation on Youtube that had a spin on the end of it, which also felt kind of like a nod to his party table top move from the anime/manga… So @donovanlouie @twin.b.effect @stuartwillaction and I practiced those moves together for months, just to string them in this 7 second one shot. 🥸
On the day… The Baratie was packed with people and this was the first fight scene I’d ever done and all I kept thinking was “For the love of god Taz, don’t slip, don’t fall over bruv!” 😂
