Ae Southammavong Instagram – I don’t usually make videos like this but today I got time. I have received both positive and negative comments about my collaboration with Uncle Roger, and sadly, most of the negative comments have come from my own Lao community. Don’t get me wrong, I have received so much love and support as well and I will never take that for granted so thank thank thank you from the bottom my heart ❤️
I don’t expect everyone to understand my intentions, but I want to make clear that I absolutely did not defend Uncle Roger for what he said about Lao food—I found an opportunity to showcase our food and put him up to the challenge. The YouTube video has gained millions of views and people are talking about our food as many foreigners are curious to see what Lao food is all about. They will go on to support Lao restaurants, businesses, and even visit our country because of this spark of curiosity. That has been my goal all along. The intention of this collaboration was to promote Lao food on a much greater platform than my own.
This is the beauty of the internet; the fact that we can interact in real time and share opinions to promote positivity as well as negativity. What we do with the power of our voice is entirely up to us and this is what I chose to do with mine—to create an impact for our people and to bring a spotlight to our unique Southeast Asian flavors.
I love you all! Guess what, though? We just getting started!!! #laofood #laofoodmovement #intention #laolove #foodislove #ຕາລົກລາວ #ລາວ #ພາສາລາວ #ອາຫານລາວ #uncleroger #culture #laoculture | Posted on 07/Oct/2023 05:18:09
