Amy Jackson Instagram – On horseback in Africa Riding with elephants in Botswana – “…it was fantastic, it was such an amazing experience” Amy Jackson. Ed Westwick and Amy Jackson joined us over New Year 2022 for a Tuli Safari on Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. We encountered this group of elephants on the way to camp one afternoon. One particular bull watched us and stood a little distance from the horse and riders having a dust bath. The riders stopped to watch him from a distance, but the elephant clearly decided that the horse and riders were disturbing his bath. He did a brief, and vocal mock charge. Elephants can do this in the bush as a show of strength and power. We are visitors in their home, and so weAt this point the back up guide leads the riders away. The lead guide stands his ground until the guests are at a safe distance and the elephant has relaxed and realise we the horses are not a threat. The ride then continues.
