So imagine her surprise when she attended hospital with stomach pain and went into unexpected, early labour.
Her baby Xavier has Down’s Syndrome and complications from his premature birth.
With her life completely changed, Rachel could no longer work in childcare due to having to care for her own little bub – and she found herself behind on rent.
Less than a month later, Rachel was facing homelessness when her landlord decided not to renew her lease.
That’s where we came in to help.
Rachel was provided with rental support through the Department of Housing.
Then we put her in touch with community housing provider Jacaranda, who found Rachel a safe new home for herself and Xavier.
She’s just one of thousands of Queenslanders we’ve helped with rental support.
