Ashley Judd Instagram – Human life has no hierarchy. With every armed conflict—of which there are at least 110 at present, as observed by the Geneva Academy—coupled with devastating humanitarian crises, such as the floods in Libya, earthquakes in Afghanistan, and the hurricane in Mexico, trauma knows no bounds. Feelings can be overwhelming as we see the horrific images on our screens and have loved ones in these places. Our souls anguish. What we can do is first tend to our own suffering, to bring our own house in order emotionally and spiritually, so we may care fervently for others with grace and increased effectiveness. I cannot transmit what I do not have.  So, today, as I pray for the world, and take the actions that are in front of me to take, I also take care of myself, so it is a more whole and healing self I bring to the cause of peace.
