He puts this into words so perfectly. We are not separate from nature. We are a part of it and that is why when we “destroy this planet,” we are essentially destroying ourselves. I don’t believe we have to be a rawfood vegan with a zero waste lifestyle to care and contribute to restoring and conserving the planet. This all or nothing mindset serves no one because it puts us in a state of eco-anxiety or “can’t be perfect so I won’t do it at all” mindset. But I think if we all start to even microscopically shift our perspective of how we look at everything else that exists in this universe as a part of ourselves (because everything is truly connected), we won’t have to force anything on anyone because once we see we are them and they are us, we’ll automatically shift our actions. I think over time as we humans grew smarter and more “understood” the science of the universe, we’ve somehow convinced ourselves with our big intellectual egos that understanding what the universe has been doing before time even existed somehow puts us on a level or even higher playing field once things that were “myths” or “magic” to us became “scientific phenomena”… and that we are somehow “separate” from the rest of what we think we are superior to, when in fact the universe still far exceeds our level of understanding and scientific explanations of it doesn’t make it any less of a miracle in each and every way it functions and creates.. the universe has always been what it is. It’s just us that’s been playing catch up. And we should never forget the obvious – we were born from nature – that’s why we call her Mother. Went on a bit of a tangent there, but yes, back to the conclusion… We are a part of nature!!
