Jana Kesenheimer Instagram – After crossing the Japanese main island from Kagoshima to Hachinohe during the @japanese_odyssey by bike, we now still can’t say more than hello (Konichiwa), thank you (arrigato) and ok (hai).
But what we learned: no one will steal our bikes here, everyone is nice. Secondly, the snacks reveal an endless variety of discoveries (we soon no longer asked ourselves what they were, but only whether they tasted good). Thirdly: intensive long cycling in a pair is definitely as least as much fun as a sleep deprivated solo mission.
Over the course of 2600 kilometers and 40,000 meters of altitude gain in just 9 days, we’ve embraced a mix of bivouacking and hotel stays, while also contending with autumn weather that not only painted the landscape with beautiful colors but also gave us a bit of a runny nose.
We captured so many photos during this journey that it was challenging to decide what to share first, but “Hai,” here we go!
