So when @ashokselvan and @keerthipandian approached us to design their தமிழ் முறை திருமணம் on their farm, set amongst beautiful fields frequented by peacocks, as a celebration that was one with nature, we knew that it was going to be absolutely magical. Every detail of the beautiful celebration was thoughtfully designed and customized taking inspiration from elements close to the couple’s heart and signifying their love, from the semmanu aisle to the Terracotta cutlery on the table. All the details were curated consciously, avoiding plastic, opting for natural fabrics and using locally sourced ingredients, materials and labour. The waste was carefully collected and segregated, and all biodegradable components were composted right on the farm itself, Even though such elements are not the simplest things to execute, the challenge was worth it to reflect the couple’s values and our own, and to have the least impact on the environment. The decor was designed to connect with the surroundings by using local flowers like manoranjitham and sampangi, semmanu to elevate the aisle, limestone, coconut leaves and hay bales sourced from the farm and small details like salangai bunches to add texture. The stage itself was airy and light, more like a piece of art that enhanced the already stunning backdrop. Keerthi’s saree wove together elements close to her heart, taking inspiration from her mother’s beloved wedding saree. @itsallaboutcoffeeshops hand illustrated the different elements and Ranga, a weaver from Kancheepuram brought them to life.
