As an actress and producer, I stand firm in my support for the SAG-AFTRA union and want to take a moment to share why it is crucial for us as artists. Since joining in 1994, I have experienced firsthand the incredible benefits the union provides. From contributing to my pension to receiving comprehensive health care coverage, which now extends to my son, I have felt secure knowing that the union has my back in various aspects of my career, including residuals, working hours on set, personal safety, and more.
Solidarity is the cornerstone of our strength as artists. Together, our voices become a powerful force, advocating for our rights and well-being in an industry that thrives on our creativity and dedication. The SAG-AFTRA union forms the backbone of this collective strength, ensuring that we, as performers, are fairly compensated and respected for what we bring to screens and stages worldwide.
By supporting the union, we foster a relationship between actors, producers, writers, and studios. It’s not just about individual gains; it’s about creating an environment where all parties can collaborate and flourish. When artists are valued and recognized for their contributions, the industry as a whole benefits.
We have to continue to stand together and demand fair wages and creative recognition. The corporations and studios need to step up and acknowledge the importance of supporting the union.
