On Sunday afternoon, a small float plane crashed into Puget Sound off the coast of Whidbey Island. My beloved sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross and baby nephew Remy were on that plane. To make this news even more devastating, my sister was eight months pregnant and we were expecting to welcome baby boy Luca into the world next month. The last three days have been the worst of our lives. There are truly no words to appropriately convey the depth of our grief. The last thing I wanted to do was acknowledge this painful family tragedy publicly, but it’s come to my attention that several news outlets have misgendered my sweet nephew and some haven’t even mentioned baby Luca. Lauren and Ross left behind my niece who we are all holding in our hearts. Thankfully, she was not on the plane and we ask that her name and personal information be kept private as she is a minor. It is important these details be corrected to respectfully honor everyone we’ve lost and the loved ones they’ve left behind. The outpouring of love and support has meant so much to everyone in our family. It has been so comforting to know just how loved Lauren, Ross, Remy and Luca truly are.

Over the years, Brian Gallagher and I have made a long list of things that instantly make other things better, just by adding them to the mix. Things like a squeeze of lime, the cello, and freshly washed sheets are constantly topping the list. But as we celebrate nine awesome years of marriage, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve left out the most important “thing” – and that’s Brian Gallagher. Anyone who has met him will agree that just adding him to the mix instantly makes everything better. There is no one better than him and I am the luckiest person in the world because nine years ago he married me and my life has been made infinitely better because of him. Happy Anniversary, Brian Gallagher. ❤️
It is difficult to describe the depth of our gratitude for the overwhelming support we have received in such a short time. Because of this generosity, we will be able to start the recovery effort for Lauren, Remy & Luca immediately and hopefully bring some kind of closure to this unbearable tragedy very soon. This tragic loss put us in an impossible situation and, to be very honest, it was incredibly difficult to ask for help. But the immediate outpouring of support has shown us we are not alone in wanting to recover our beloved family members, and that has brought us an immense amount of comfort. Because of the generous support we’ve received, we will be able to cover the search and rescue team’s costs and make a donation to their foundation to help other families look for their loved ones. Whether you have contributed financially, brought us meals, sent flowers or cards or healing thoughts and prayers, we will never truly be able to thank you enough for supporting our family when we needed you the most. But we will keep trying and we will be paying these acts of kindness forward for the rest of our lives. In profound gratitude, Megan

Not only is she the best in the business, but she is also one of the kindest, most wonderful & generous people I’ve ever had the privilege to know. I got to witness her perfection last night with the incredible San Diego Symphony at the magical Rady Shell and I’ll never be the same!
