Here I am standing at Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers next to the golden model of the Sengol that they crafted back in 1947. When the British Government handed over the authority of governing India over to Pandit Nehru, it was the Sengol that was symbolically used for the transfer of power. So today, as we celebrate our 77th year as a free and independent nation, we honor the centuries of cultural heritage that our glorious nation has witnessed. A legacy of art, tradition and aesthetic beauty perfectly carved in precious stone gave birth to this prestigious ornament.
