Join us for an engaging event as we dive into the fascinating world of screenwriting and the Writers Guild of America (WGA). The evening will kick off with a lively mixer, followed by talk-back with your host and panelists, Noree Victoria, director-writer-producer, and Helen Shang, an active WGA member and a formidable strike captain.
Helen is an accomplished screenwriter, inspired by the dark and macabre, finding creativity in haunted antiques and the beauty of nature. She is known for her work on shows like Hannibal and 13 Reasons Why. She’s also a co-writer of the upcoming thriller “An Arrangement”, directed by Noree Victoria.
Noree Victoria is a Baltimore native, inspired by reckoning stories and tales at the intersections of street and academia. She is a writer, director, actor, voiceover artist and filmmaker. Her achievements include on and off camera projects, with the film “An Arrangement” in post-production. Her recent accomplishments include earning a Master Certificate in screenwriting and the optioning of her television series, “Neighborhood H.” Offscreen, she’s devoted to friends, family, fitness, and social advocacy.
Together, they will delve into their inspiring journeys, the strategic elements that led to the WGA deal’s triumph, and their pedagogies around the world of written story. Additionally, they’ll share their unique experiences collaborating on their upcoming film. To add an exciting twist, the night will round off with a fast-paced and fun “I Have a Pitch!” mock TV writer’s room exercise, a concept inspired by a memorable Zoom call during the pre-production phase of Helen’s screenplay.
