i made the choice to sing live for every take throughout filming the hunger games: the ballad of songbirds and snakes. especially for a moment like this, where coriolanus is reacting to lucy gray’s song that she’s written for him— a declaration of love and trust— which became everyone’s favorite song in the film. this is a behind-the-scenes clip i captured of the acoustics within the space in duisburg, germany, with our amazing extras and dancers (!!!) whilst filming tom’s coverage of “pure as the driven snow”.
i remain so thankful for moments in my career where i get to share my voice. it was my stepping stone into filmmaking, after all. and, of course, i am always super grateful to my filmmakers for believing in me and encouraging me.
the album for our film, including these brilliant songs by dave cobb and sung by me (among other amazing artists), and ‘can’t catch me now’ by the incomparable @oliviarodrigo, is available for streaming now on all platforms! i spent my weekends during shooting in the studio w/ dave (via zoom) and francis, tanera, nina, cam, hadie, and greg to bring these songs from suzanne’s mind to life. i couldn’t be prouder of this music and this film.
