Here’s my review and why I feel it’s unique- 1. Location: It’s on top of a hill overlooking the sea in Vagator. 2. Design: Bold colours, lots of modern art. 3. Rooms: Very unusual rooms with chandeliers and bright colours, bathtubs with TVs -reel coming soon 4. Service: Staff is very friendly and they are pretty quick. 5. Atmosphere: Young, modern, cool. 6. Reception area is called The Living Room and is very lively with music and parties and a bar. ( that’s the W brand, their receptions are all like nightclubs and they were especially famous in the early 2000s) 7. Food: Delicious especially the Asian Restaurant -Spice Traders and I loved the Goan Thaali in their coffee shop. ( pls note the thaali is HUGE, 4 people can eat from it :) 8. Their “Rock Pool” is one of the most famous pools in Goa. Unfortunately the Rock Pool isn’t working right now, it will be ready for the season. 9. They have an indoor adults only pool in their spa which is dimly lit with candles all around it. Their spa has a lot of interesting options. I haven’t tried it yet, will do later today. #WGoa #goahotels @w_goa Goa, India

Shenaz Treasurywala Instagram – I’m feeling Nostalgic about a Goa from the 90s with its bohemian spirit, a place where a few of us felt we had found the best kept secret, chilling on the white sand beaches of Candolim ( yup Candolim) and Baga was where we went to eat chocolate brownies from Tito’s and Seafood platter at Brittos. At night we would get dressed in our hippy dippy attire and ride deep into the jungles to find the secret rave parties. Was a thrill to just find them. And then I would lay on the bedsheets outside and eat andapao under a sky full of stars while my friends danced the night away.

But now, Goa has donned a new attire. The beachside huts have given way to boutique resorts, the beaches are no longer the best-kept secret, and the once-quiet streets where you would just see Goans with their rum bottles and siesta signs now hum with a different kind of energy.

An energy of construction and building.
An energy of investors all looking to make money off Goa’s land. The pandemic changed Goa. Builders building villas that cost 10Cr to 25Cr.
Land prices shooting up.

Shacks with fish curry rice are a rare find replaced by fancy restaurants and speak easy bars. The Goans Rum 🍹 is replaced by fancy Gin Bars( I don’t mind the fancy bars and restaurants, but it’s different)

It’s a new Goa.
Goa has reinvented itself, with a fusion of old-world charm and contemporary delights but I do hope the old world charm remains and the heritage homes and trees 🌳 stay because I would hate to see what’s happened to Bandra happen in Goa.

What are your views? Goa, India
