Shini Somara Instagram – Mum – 26th September 1949 – 21st October 2023
(Eulogy – delivered 1 November 2023, London)
The love I have for you mum, is the greatest unconditional love I have ever known…
I miss you with all my heart.
Its some consolation to know that you’re no longer suffering.
Your regal spirit has been set free from human limitations.
You embodied magnificence. You were absolutely gorgeous.
You had dignity, poise, elegance and grace.
You deserved all the gems of this earth, but you never needed any glittery decoration. You dazzled from within.
Your radiant sparkling smile and twinkling eyes especially when you laughed, lit up all darkness.
Yet you kept your super powers so private..
Your strength came from your authenticity and honesty..
Your resilience, made you so gentle and caring for others ..
Your kindness came from your patience..
In accepting life on life’s terms, you were calm..
And with humility, you stayed quiet.
Your greatest and most inspiring quality was tolerance. It’s said that tolerance is the highest form of education and wisdom.. you continue to teach me and us (my two sisters) so much mum..
In the words of your grandson, you never ever gave up.
I’ve never met anyone so devoted, committed and loyal. You gave our family balance, unity and purpose..
Thanks for your unwavering stoicism, your values, your grounded determination, and for choosing Dad. You picked a true gem of husband, father and soulmate.
I see so much of you in Soraya, Sharlene and myself. Of course, because you devoted every ounce of your energy to empowering us. Thank you mum.
I speak on OUR behalf in saying that we promise to persevere in making you as proud of us, as we are of you.
You will always be my North Star lighting up the path of truth.
You shine brighter than ever in my heart.
I love you. | Posted on 02/Nov/2023 02:00:56
