& just like that she’s TWO! What a year. Honestly my most challenging thus far- not because I became a new mom or have a small toddler doing all the toddler things- it’s been an absolute heartbreaking year for reasons I won’t get into now…yet amidst the difficulties, this baby angel has been a steady, calm, light guiding me through. The shimmer atop the muck- the reason to smile on a tear filled day, the reminder to stay present, to play, to connect, to LIVE – despite the relentless, confounding fear. Venice turns 2 today, the same day her Grandfather would have been 75…I know their souls met spirit side, as she came the year my father passed. He picked her for me, my soul’s perfect gift- taking care of me the instant she arrived. I am forever changed and yet more and more myself. She draws out my best and challenges me to remain in my knowing, in my truth. Happy 2nd Birthday sweetest Venice Louise! I love you from places in my heart I have never known. & I love you Daddy forever -beyond all realms of understanding.

It feels almost impossible to describe how difficult it is to book a job that gets you a role on a TV show, movie, commercial or voice over. Remember the last time you interviewed for a job?? You had to go through maybe 3 to 5 rounds of interviews before you landed the gig? Remember how scary it was? The preparation, the nerves, hoping you’d get picked, hoping you’d get a good salary- hoping the recruiter would have enough opportunities for you to find other employment in case you don’t get this one??? Remember all of that fear and stress?? Actors do that week in and week out constantly (if we’re LUCKY) against multiple thousands of other actors across the globe, vying for the one role, that you might not even really be right for, but you try anyway. It’s called auditioning…it’s exhilarating, it’s terrifying, it’s fun, it’s high stakes high stress, tedious, hard work. And you have to do on average 30/50 times before you book. It’s everything you love and desire on the line AS WELL AS your sole way to keep the lights on and feed your babies. It’s your art and your lifeline. The statistical probability of even booking a one episode guest star is catastrophically off the charts against you…but that’s where passion and determination show up and you forge ahead just believing BIGGER than numbers, odds, and quotas. The actors that are lucky (and I do mean LUCKY) enough to have good representation to get them the opportunities to try to beat the odds and book a job- DESERVE TO MAKE A GOOD LIVING from being one of the few who made it through. They need to be supported to help normalize working to keep the next generation of up and coming actors healthily inspired to keep going themselves…And they damn well shouldn’t be wondering if, after all of that hard work & beating the odds, whether or not they can pay for the dentist or doctor. I consider myself beyond lucky to have been pulling off this actor life for over 20 years and I’M READY TO GO BACK TO WORK. I’ve never had a plan B bc I’ve always known this is what I’m made for…always. For me it’s: #burntheboats #staythecourse I #knowitdonthopeit • #POWERTOPERFORMERS #SAGAFTRASTRIKE #SAGAFTRASTRONG
