Mourning and Memorials are always hard but it’s nice when one can find moments of levity and laughter with the family. 🤪😂😂😂 My dad would’ve loved this!!!! Hope this makes someone smile. Love on each other y’all and laugh often. Thank you daddy for helping me appreciate every single moment
A rare moment captured… it was a rarity to catch me without a smile on my face. My parents had to scrape together their last in order for me to take this school picture. I felt bad for them. I was young, but I understood… I understood our financial disparities. I understood I had to help my family. I understood I had to be a leader and a big sister to my little brothers. So much pressure but even then, I felt it was important to keep things light and keep a smile on my face… I still feel that way.

I got to visit with my cousin while I was home in Jersey. Hard to find the words cuz… but I’ll try. I love you. You are the pillar to which our family stands. How I spent my birthday…. Y’all see where I get it from right??? This is my dad messing with my nephew. Clifton Campbell (my daddy) was a hero to so many. He worked in child care his entire career. It was important that he reach kids from impoverished areas. He worked in group homes. He was a chess master and used the game to reach and teach kids from all over but had a special place for young ppl on the spectrum and for those who were surrounded with nothing but disadvantages. He was a self taught magician and would entertain young ppl by doing tricks or stirring up a fiery game of Simon Says. He gave it up and dropped everything for several years to help my son Xen after we got the autism diagnosis and together dad, we made miracles happen. That was my dad… I miss you and yes it’s beyond heartbreaking but I feel like God and you are guiding me, my sisters, and my brothers thru this. Dad, you would be so PROUD of us. No matter what, me and my siblings are sticking together. No one can break us. No weapon formed against us. We are Campbell strong TOGETHER. I remember being 3 years old holding onto your knee and looking up at you thinking “ My daddy is the biggest strongest man in the world.” It was hard to watch you endure the pain in these last years but you are beyond earthy body experiences now and you’re not in pain anymore. I can’t help but smile because Jesus has you now. Don’t worry about me dad…Every time a tear falls it’s quickly replaced with funny or beloved memories. I can’t help but laugh thinking of you dude! I can’t tell you how amazing this experience was. I was going to support my friend @dnice at his #clubquarantine the whole #cq weekend @kennedycenter in #DC was BANANAS! He had CQ comedy on Friday, CQ music with a. Full orchestra backing Dnice and the performers on Saturday and CQ gospel on Sunday mannnnn he asked me to host and do fifteen minute set before I brought upon these talented, amazing, respected ESTABLISHED ass stand up comedians! For the first time… I did stand up with an audience that wasn’t filled with PAID laughers. Lololol It was a real audience who paid THEIR good money to have a good goddamn time with a crazy line up… @zainabjohnson @flexaforeal @therealchrisspencer @ginayashere @sherrieshepherd and SNL’s @michaelchernow I can’t believe I did it! My friends @finessemitchell @sherrieshepherd @kymwhitley and @jokoy had been trying to convince me for YEARS to get up on stage and do stand up Thank you to Bek and my brother @therealchrisspencer for helping me. And of course to my other brother DNice for pushing me to go past my comfort level. You’re a true friend.
