CAPTAIN AMERICA #4 ADI GRANOV AVENGERS 60TH VAR Est. release on 12/13 I painted this about a year ago. Acrylic paint on watercolour board, as usual. #avengers #captainamerica #ironman #thor #marvel #adigranov
At a con recently someone said my work looks like sculpture on paper. It’s the best compliment anyone could give me. I am completely obsessed with mass and volume. WIP – Acrylic paint on watercolour board #thor #marvel #adigranov
Varnish drying on these two. Commissions for a friend which will also be covers. Miles next, which is being done as a cover from the start (as I need to stop doing commissions to cover level!) Both acrylic on watercolour board #spiderman #venom #marvel #adigranov
Nearing the end. Surface is still dull, but once the varnish goes on the darks will become really deep and highlights alive. Lots of layering on this one, probably 20-25 glazes of paint and medium to give it a lot of life. It will be a pain to photograph. #thor #avengers #marvel #adigranov
New things
I am a lifelong fan of the Mad Max universe and really loved Fury Road, so am super excited for Furiosa. #furiosa #madmax #adigranov
Testing my new Nikon D850 for shooting artwork. 60mm Micro lens and strobe lights, same setup as with the old D7100. The difference in the final capture is subtle, as was to be expected as I already had a good setup, but the image is larger and the detail at full size crisper. It won’t make a huge difference at comic book size printing, but it will for larger than life size uses. The camera is also quite a bit easier to set up and captures better images with less hassle. Not entirely sure why that is yet. The depth of colour and light bounce through the paint is excellent, which is my main concern trying to capture the effects of glazed layers.
If the Avengers were a band Thor would definitely be the drummer. Still work in progress. #thor #avengers #marvel #adigranov
ALIENS What if… Cover Acrylic paint on watercolour board This is the first official Alien piece I’ve ever done. I’ll gladly do more. #aliens #alien #marvel #adigranov

Tokyo Comic Con this weekend. I will be at the con all day Saturday only. Can’t wait to see all of my friends in Tokyo! It is my favourite place to visit, and even last year, so soon after reopening, the people and especially the comic book fans, were as wonderful as always and really made the best of an unusual situation. This year will be even better!
Step 2 #venom #marvel #adigranov
My trusty red cape called into action again. Who could it be this time?
Got this bench pressing hamster in Akihabara today, as well as another iteration of the MK3 Iron Man, this time by Three Zero. Really nicely done figure. It’s always quite surreal to travel so far and see my own work on the shelves. Especially the enduring appeal of the MK3 all these years later. Fantastic to be back in Tokyo again, especially as it feels back to being so busy and vibrant.
I did a cover for a friend’s book! I’ll post a couple of links in the comments where you can learn more about the book and see a couple of early sketches I did for the cover. Of course, I’ll be more than happy to sign the books at cons.

There is no other place quite like Tokyo. I got stopped in the street and interviewed for Japanese TV yesterday. It’s quite common to ask tourists about what they shop for in Japan. I was carrying a bag full of Holbein paints, which I always restock when here. I don’t think they were expecting that, so it lead to talking about my work and Marvel, etc. My friend Aki gifted me this blaster water pistol I’ve been really wanting to join the Tomenosuke replica I bought here before the pandemic. And I came across the Road Warrior shirt at a booth for the Road Warrior magazine because of course there is such a thing here.
One thing I definitely wouldn’t have predicted for today was that I would have my own official KitKat chocolate bars in Japan. Thank you @aki_yanagi
A few weeks ago at a car meet in Leeds I saw this perfect condition Yugo 45. People will really collect anything! But it really took me back to my childhood in Bosnia. For the record they were never cool in Bosnia either, but now there is definitely the kind of ironic retro cool to it.
Out just in time for Christmas! This fabulous Sci-Fi novel by my friend Alex Prior, with the cover by this dude (it’s me, I’m talking about me). If you have a teen who likes sci-fi adventure, or if you, a young adult like me…, like sci-fi adventure, then what a better present! Available both in physical and digital formats now. But honestly, buy the physical one as otherwise Alex and I will have to sign your tablets and phones, which is lame.
