Apl.de.Ap Instagram – I’ve been spending the last couple of days looking for the photos I have of Ros and I, and to be honest, I can’t find many. There isn’t a photo that I can find that’ll accurately represent just how long I’ve known her and just how much she’s meant to me and to the BEP family.
And that’s because Ros was always there — around — but almost never in front of the camera.
I often tell the story of how I fell in love with Honda Civics. Growing up in the scene, Civics were a status symbol for Will and I and how we always wanted one. What I don’t always talk about is getting into Ros’ Civic way back when and having her drive us to West Covina mall where she hooked us up with her employee discount was how I got to love that car.
Ros introduced us to @kidheroes to shoot the Apl Song video. She understood the moment and opportunity of that video to represent our culture correctly in the mainstream.
I never gave her the flowers she deserved for putting us on MySpace when it was at its peak and helped propel us. She taught us about the power of the Top 8. BEP is made up of more than the guys you see onstage, and it’s people like Roslynn who made this all possible.
Years later I was able to pay her back a small part of the debt and took her home to the Philippines for the FAM trip. It did something for her that I had always hoped, and from that trip on she spent a considerable amount of her time giving back and wielding her power to help our community grow.
I don’t have many friends. Most of them are people that I’ve known for over 25 years but I was lucky enough to have @roslynnc as one of them. I’ll miss you. | Posted on 22/Nov/2023 22:31:26
