However, around the same time, Lou faced the harsh reality of the HIV epidemic, a threat looming over the LGBTQ+ community. In 1986, after his lower surgery, Lou received a diagnosis that shook the foundations of his world. 🌎 Despite the challenges, Lou remained resilient. In his poignant diary entry, Lou defiantly declared, “I took a certain pleasure in informing the gender clinic that even though their program told me I could not live as a Gay man, it looks like I’m going to die like one.” 📖❤️ Lou Sullivan’s story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
