James Norton Instagram – World Diabetes Day was last tuesday (I’m a little late to the party). This year @dexcomuk asked what we’d like the world to know about living with type 1 diabetes. One misconception I often come across is “that means you can’t eat sugar, right?”. The truth is we diabetics can enjoy a sugary pudding if we want one, we just have to make sure we administer the correct amount of insulin. The more sugary the desert, the more insulin required. And sometimes, when we’ve had too much insulin and are low on sugar (or hypoglycaemic) we need to eat to sugar as a matter of urgency. It’s all a very important and slightly tedious balancing act. And technology like Dexcom make that balancing a hell if a lot easier.
