I probably should’ve said it was a minor knee operation so as to not have some friends concerned.
That being said, knee surgery by Dr. Lavender was a success ( @chadlavendermd )
Chad aka “Humpty” and I grew up in thr same town and played on the same Little League teams together and went to the same schools. He’s doing some amazing and revolutionary things as a surgeon that haven’t been done before. Peope are flying from all over the country to have him operate on them. So needless to say, it’s nice to have friends like that!
How did I tear my meniscus?
Oh I’m glad you asked.
Well… about 4 months ago I was at Uncle Bobby’s and he had just taken the cover off the pool. It was a mild Spring afternoon.
I reached down off-balance on one foot while standing on the tippy toes of my left foot to feel the temperature of the pool.
I had just picked Josey up from school and he was behind me. Long story short, Josey thought it would be funny to push me in…with my shoes and clothes on.
I tried to get my legs down because in that split-second that I realized what just happened, i thought I’d get my legs down to keep my top half dry because I knew it wpuld be cold.
And Daddy didn’t wanna be too cold, or too wet. Well, Daddy got that right leg down and hyper-extended it. Daddy paid the price of a bad split-second decision.
Should’ve fell right into the soft water, and been a little cold for a few seconds. But, if we’re lucky, we live and we learn. A lesson I didn’t need to learn, but maybe a lesson for 7 year old @joseydorsey to not push people in the pool…at least when it’s not summertime.
Onwards…to the road of recovery !
