Perumkulam is known as the book village of Kerala! This charming village is a paradise and safe haven for avid readers✨
It all started with a few young people who turned their grief over Gandhiji’s death into something useful for the society by creating a tiny library in a small room with just a hundred books.
But now almost every junction in this village has outdoor nest-like book shelves set up for readers to enjoy! The books all around the village are FREE for all so people can either read the books or take one home while replacing it with another.
It’s such an inspiring and unique communal experience❤️
Fun fact: This is not the only village that loves and values books! In fact the FIRST ever book village of India is Bhilar that is located in Maharashtra. Here, every household in the village maintains a library for the tourists to enjoy 💯
