Amma Asante Instagram – I was so sorry to hear of the death of Tom Wilkinson yesterday. His portrayal of Lord Mansfield in BELLE is a directing memory etched in my mind. Just hours before the announcement and knowledge of his passing, I was sharing a fond recollection of working with him with one of my producers. I will remember him for his skill as an actor and his kindness – Particularly, on the day my father died while we were shooting the film. Tom’s kind words reminding me of my strength and also my abilities as a director, got me through that first day of terrible pain while filming. Through a fantastic career, I’m so glad he chose BELLE as just one of the films through which we can continue to celebrate him.
