As much as it’s natural to think of another woman to represent this day, yet I think of a man in memory who loved women so much and supported us all.
Whether you were a model, editor, or someone like me who became his “Black sister” who he supported and loved my eye for discovering models to introduce him to, to represent his vision and design.
Azzedine ALAiA loved women.
The love he gave his biological sister we watched. And how each of us became a daughter or a sister to him as well. This brilliant visionaire and maker of clothes to adorn a woman’s body the way he did was beyond the love and generosity he gave with it, will never be matched. As that time has passed.
We as women know it’s our day of recognition, but remembering a man who believed in each of and helped us to become exceptional and more delighted with ourselves was everything.
I only wish every young woman could have experience Azzedine..because it was a true gift.
