Christine Chiu Instagram – 100 Carats: Icons of the Gem World at The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles 💎 Thank you @nhmla for this special viewing and dinner celebrating the most exquisite and rare gems all weighing 100ct + ! @drchiubhps loved the science surrounding these precious natural treasures of the earth AND that nothing was for sale 😆😅🤣🤣 All I want for Christmas is world peace and Jonker 1 – the 125.35ct flawless D colored diamond first discovered in 1934. The rough crystal was over 726 carats and was cut into 13 distinct stones. The Jonker is the largest. The gem was purchased by the king of Egypt in 1949 and disappeared in 1952. in the 1970s the gem reappear under the ownership of Queen Ratna of Nepal. It was then sold to an anonymous buyer who remains so until today.
